Downtown Miami's Metromover monorail is a fun, fast, and cheap way to get around town. This free air-conditioned Disney-like transport is a real bargain.
The individualized motor cars run on top of a 4.4-mile elevated track that loops around downtown Miami and into the city's two major business districts - Brickell and Omni.
Offering a bird's eye view of the city below, Metromover makes stops at Bayside Marketplace, Miami Arena, the Miami-Dade Cultural Center, the Miami Convention Center, and many hotels. From this perch you can see beautiful Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean.
The fare to transfer to Metrorail is $1.25. Fares can be paid in tokens, coins, or dollar bills, exact change only.
Also, you can get a "First-Time Rider's Kit," free maps, and schedules by mail before your trip if you call the Miami-Dade Transit Agency. The kit includes information on Metromover, Metrobus, and Metrorail.
