The hip, newly renovated Art Deco-style Miracle Theater is home to a professional company that presents comedies, dramas, and musicals year-round. Musical theater productions for younger audiences are held in the 300-seat Children’s Balcony Theater.

One of Dade County’s critically acclaimed cultural institutions, the historic 1940s-era showcase movie house was purchased by the City of Coral Gables and the Coral Gables Commission in 1995. The Actors’ Playhouse is Miracle Theater’s resident theater company and managing agent. Since 1998 a 600-seat main-stage auditorium has been completed, as well as a 300-seat second stage. Still under construction is a rehearsal/reception/multi-purpose room.


The main-stage theater has received 19 prestigious awards for artistic excellence by the South Florida Critics’ Association. For two years in a row, Actors’ Playhouse was named "Best Musical Theater" in South Florida for its productions of West Side Story, I Love You, You’re Perfect, and Now Change.


The Musical Theater for Young Audiences has been named "Best in Miami" by South Florida Parenting Magazine. The theater was also awarded Exemplary Dade Partner status by the School Board for excellence in educational programming and community outreach.


The Actors’ Playhouse Theater Conservatory offers stage and camera training for kids, teens, and adults. During the 6-weeks of classes students are taught by professional instructors who hold degrees in theater and performance. Classes include Children’s Summer Theater Camp, Teen One-Act Showcase, private voice lessons, private audition instruction, creative dramatics, and acting for the camera. Kids in the 40-week Musical Miracles program represent Actors’ Playhouse throughout South Florida at festivals and local events.


Theater productions include Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Brigadoon, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, and The Buddy Holly Story.
